oxymoron

You always hurt the one you love,
The one you shouldn't hurt at all.
You always take the sweetest rose
And crush it till the petals fall.
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall.
So If I broke your heart last night,

Hurt and love= oxymoron. How can this be? How can you hurt someone you love? But what do I know? I'm just a twenty-something year old that's never experienced a long-term relationship. Perhaps there's some truth to it. Hmm... I don't know?

I have not seen Blue Valentine yet but I heard the song above sung by Ryan Gosling with his ukulele--not in person of course :(. The lyrics are very poetic. I'm not sure I believe it personally but I'm sure it applies to the movie. And of course, any boy girl with a broken heart would like to believe this is true. But hey, if it helps you cope with heartache or any other form of torment, then by all means sing it in all mighty and splendour. Come to think of it, now that I think about it in terms of family relations... the poem speaks truth. I often times wound my parents with my immature remarks and selfish actions but at the end of the day they are the people I love the most. So ma' and pa', this one's for you. Sorry for being an unruly child.

Come to think of it, this poem is probably a testament to the married life. This says the opposite of Corinthians 13 (typical marriage vows) but it is way more honest and realistic.
